MBAG Committees

This is your chance to get involved!

All committees meet on a regular basis via in-person and/or telephone conference. Each committee chair shall decide the avenue and schedule of meetings, and must make regular reports to the MBAG Board of Governors at monthly meetings.



Who should join

Consumer Chair: Michael O'Neill, Carol Clark Law
Fields calls from consumers in the general public and provides assistance with mortgage matters. Many referrals come from WSB's Clark Howard show, among other sources.
Those who have been in the industry long enough to be comfortable providing advice to callers.
Convention Chair: John Semon, Brand Mortgage
Plans annual convention, solicits sponsorships, secures speakers, plans education, etc.
Education Chair: Kurt Owen, Atlantic Bay Mortgage
Plans and executes education opportunities for management and operations personnel
Ethics This five-member committee is appointed by the President to investigate and resolve ethics violations from MBAG members, should they arise. Appointed
FHA-VA/Investor Liaison Chair: David Freas, Silverton Mortgage
Acts as liaison between MBAG members and officials at HUD/VA/FNMA, etc. to keep members informed of pertinent issues. Meets with appropriate agencies as needed.
Mgmt./ operations personnel
Legislative Chair: Josh Moffitt, Silverton Mortgage
Works with first VP and MBAG Legislative Liaison on matters affecting the Industry in the legislative arena.

Co-chairs: Denise Baumann, Arch MI / Alex Radford, SKWR Law
Performs functions of MBAG's Charitable arm,
The MBAG Foundation 501(c)(3) organization. Plans volunteer events and fundraisers, including annual Holiday Auction and Charity Bowling Tournament.

Membership Chair: Jill Gainer, Ameris Bank Mortgage
Focuses on recruitment of new members, retention of current members, and engagement of all members.

Long-term members of MBAG with a good working knowledge of the Association.

Production Council Chair: Kurt Owen, Atlantic Bay Mortgage
Plans and executes education opportunities for loan officers; plans annual Gold Awards banquet ceremony.
Quality Control/ Compliance Chair: Judy Carter-Newberry, Aldridge Connors, LLP
Plans and executes education opportunities focusing on: Secondary market investors' and federal agencies' requirements in the area of QC; developing trends in the specific area of QC; new & revised regulations.
